Pre-production, Production and Post-Production

1.Explain the different stages of pre-production, production and post-production and discuss which stage you would most like to work at and why

Pre-production: Pre-production is the process of fixing some of the elements involved in a film, play, or other performance. There are three parts in a production: pre-production, production, and post-production. Pre-production ends when the planning ends and the content starts being produced.

Production: The process of or management involved in making a film, play, or record.

Post-production: Post-production, or postproduction, is part of the process of filmmaking, video production and photography. It occurs in the making of motion pictures, television programs, radio programs, advertising, audio recordings, photography, and digital art.

I would most like to work at the production stage in filmmaking because you are actually working on the film during it being made.

2.Identify at least ONE professional from each stage

Pre-production: Storyboard artist – Charles Ratteray, known for Max Steel, Captain America and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Production: Camera operator – Adam Meltzer, known for Shooter, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and Rush Hour 3.

Post-production: Sound editor – Wylie Stateman, known for Inglourious Basterds, Django Unchained and Shrek.

3.Research your chosen professional for each stage and explain- who are they, what do they do, skills etc.

Storyboard artist – Storyboard Artists draw a series of pictures to represent a script or screenplay.

Camera operator – Camera Operators prepare and operate the camera and all its equipment, working with the Director and Director of Photography.

Sound editor – Supervising Sound Editors with the Director on the film soundtrack, managing all post production sound requirements.
